Participation Waiver

The short version
Children build things with real tools and real materials, which is the point and also carries ordinary risk. We supervise, we keep the space nut-free, we check who collects your child. You tell us about allergies and medical needs, and you agree that we are not liable for the ordinary bumps that come with a workshop.
1. What your child will be doing
Exploratores sessions are hands-on. Depending on the programme, participants may use scissors, craft knives under supervision, hot glue guns, small hand tools, batteries and low-voltage circuits, motors, 3D printers, and assorted craft and construction materials. Camps and makerspace sessions include open-ended building where the child chooses their own approach.
2. Supervision and ratios
- Classes are capped at twelve children, camps at fifteen, and parties and workshops at twenty-four.
- Instructors are background-checked before they work with children unsupervised.
- Children aged 6 and over may be dropped off. Under 6 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, including in the makerspace.
- Tools that require it are used under direct instructor supervision.
3. Assumption of risk
You acknowledge that participation involves activity with a normal and foreseeable risk of minor injury, including cuts, scrapes, burns from a glue gun, and bumps. You agree that your child will follow instructions given by Exploratores staff, and that staff may exclude a participant from an activity if their conduct puts themselves or others at risk.
4. Medical, allergies and emergencies
- The premises are nut-free. You agree not to send food containing nuts.
- You will disclose allergies, medical conditions and medication at the time of booking. This information goes on the class register.
- You authorise Exploratores to obtain emergency medical treatment if you cannot be reached, and to administer first aid.
- If your child carries an epinephrine auto-injector or inhaler, tell us at booking and send it with them, labelled.
5. Drop-off and collection
Children are released only to the parent or guardian on the booking, or to a named person you have added to your account. Photo ID may be requested. If someone different needs to collect, tell us in writing before the session.
6. Photography
Exploratores sometimes photographs sessions for its own website and social media. This is optional and separate from the waiver. You may opt in or out during checkout and change your mind at any time by emailing us. Declining has no effect on your child’s participation.
7. Personal property
Projects your child builds are theirs to keep. Exploratores is not responsible for personal items lost or damaged on the premises. Please leave valuables at home.
8. Cancellation
Booking terms, refunds and transfers are covered separately in the cancellation policy, which forms part of your agreement.
9. Who is agreeing
The waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian of a participant under 18. It covers one child for one school year, from 1 September to 31 August, across every Exploratores programme they attend in that period.

A copy is emailed to you and kept in your account.
