Five or six weekly 90-minute sessions. Each one opens with a real idea in science or engineering and ends with something your child built and takes home. Twelve children per class.

The four courses
On the current site these appear only as a day and a time. They are four different courses.
The starting course. Levers, wheels, structures, stored energy. Every week a lesson on one principle, then a build that uses it: a catapult car, a bridge that has to carry a load, a machine that has to move something.

For children who have done Level 1 or who arrive already taking things apart. Circuits, motors, light and mechanisms, with more of the design left to them and more of the debugging too.

Design on screen, print in the room, hold it at the end. Students learn to model, to think about tolerance and overhang, and to work out why a print failed, which is most of the learning.

LEGO SPIKE kits with motors, sensors and block coding. Gear ratios, drive trains, and challenges with a goal rather than an instruction booklet. Our most popular class, it fills first.
$390 · 6 lessons See dates & bookSTEM Explorers runs Wednesdays at 3:45PM, sixty minutes rather than ninety, at $45 a lesson. Same structure (a question, an experiment, a build), scaled to five and six-year-olds and their attention spans.
No commitment
Booking a whole term for a child who has never done this is a leap. So don’t. Come to one session, see how they walk out, decide after.
How a session runs
Fifteen minutes on one idea: why a truss holds, how a circuit closes, what light does when it hits water.
The main event. Each child has their own kit and their own bench space, working through the build with help on hand.
Does it work? Usually not the first time. Finding out why is the part that teaches most.
Whatever is left of the session goes to open tinkering, then wrap-up and pick-up at the door.
Practical
Yes, for most classes. Every session is a self-contained topic, so nobody arrives half-way through a story. We prorate the series price to the number of lessons left, so you only pay for what your child attends.
Tell us in advance and we will hold the project so it is waiting when they come back. Where a comparable class runs on another day that week, we will offer the seat if one is free.
The grades are a guide, not a rule. If your child is a young Grade 3 who has never built anything, Level 1 is the better room. Email us the age and what they have done and we will say which fits.
No. Materials, kits, tools and take-home projects are all included in the fee. A water bottle is a good idea.
The instructor, the kit your child builds with, and the finished project they keep. Kindergarten is $45 because the session is sixty minutes rather than ninety.
Yes, and if the grade bands differ we will usually put them in slots back to back on the same afternoon so it is one trip. Ask us and we will arrange it before you book.
